A very popular and short trek in to the Cordillera Blanca with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, lagoons and a demanding ascend to the pass "Punta Union" at an altitude of 4759 m.

Trek Santa Cruz - Cordillera Blanca- 07.06. - 10.06.2014

Trekking Program:

Day 1: Huaraz - Cashapampa - Llamacorral (3760 m)
Day 2: Llamacorral - Taullipampa (4250 m)
Day 3: Taullipampa - Pariah (3850 m)
Day 4: Pariah - Vaquería - Llanganuco - Cebollapampa

1. Day: Huaraz - Cashapampa - Llamacorral (3760 m)

We start in Huaraz and reach the mountain Village Cashapmapa via Caraz. Here our Trek begins. Today 900 height meters are waiting for us, to be climed. In 4,5 hours we should manage today’s routé. Firstly we follow a long canyon before its getting up steeper. Today’s camp is called Llamacorral and is located on 3850m.

2. Day: Llamacorral - Taullipampa (4250 m)

View on Alpamayo We carry on over the scenic mountain lakes Chica and Grande our views starring on gigantic beautiful ice giants. Shortly after the lakes the famous Alpamayo appears, we carry on and stay overnight in a base camp at a height of 4350 meters.

Crossing terrific landscapes. Today’s camp is called Taulipampa and lies at a height of still 4200 meters. Wonderful views on Alpamayo and Paria included. Also the fantastic Artesonrajo appears the paramount Mountain.

3. Day: Taullipampa - (Pass Punta Union 4750 m) Pariah (3850 m)

Punta Union Today we conquer the highest point of the entire tour, the Punta Union at a height of 4750 meters.

The ascend will take us 2 hours, than we will finally reach the cross over offering us a overwhelming view. Now the scenic Taulliraju appears, as well as the Huandoy, the Huascaran and a bunch of other dream mountains. The descend is rather steep and leads as past the Laguna Morococha into the valley of Huaripampa. Extremly green is this landscape with its beautifully sparkling creeks. After climbing further 1000m down, this will take us about 4 hours, we will build up our camps at a height of 3750 meters in Huaripampa.

4. Day: Pariah - Vaquería (Pass Portachuelo 4650 m)- Llanganuco - Cebollapampa

Return to Huaraz Today we will have to climb down some more 4km and about half an hour further up until reaching Vagueria. From there on we will return to Huaraz.
